Cinkarna Celje is a large
chemical plant producing some 30000 tons of TiO2 pigment
every year. This represents roughly 1% of world
production. Recently, the production process was
thoroughly modernised by introducing a large-scale
computer-based control system. The whole project took
several years of joint endeavor of a development team
composed of 28 people of which 16 are affiliated to the
very company Cinkarna Celje, 6 of them are with the Jozef
Stefan Institute and further 6 persons are with INEA Ltd.
The realised control solutions feature excellence both from the technical as well as from the economical point of view. Just to mention an increase in the production capacity of some 30%, approximately 20% lower energy consumption and decreased environmental pollution through dust and dissolution sulphates. Furthermore, the quality of production has been improved which directly contributes to better competitiveness on the world market. Extended production facilities provide for possibilities to enrich the existing production range with new products which bears important implications in what regards attracting of new markets. And last, but not least, the computer automation system directly contributes to improved working conditions and decreased risk of accidents. |
