Additional Useful Information
WWW information. Many useful information about Slovenia can be found on the World Wide Web server at http://ijs.muzej.si/slo/ (e.g. current exchange rates, Slovenian vines, etc.)
State entry requirements. It is each participants responsibility to comply with any visa requirements to enter Slovenia. The Symposium Secretariat will assist with a letter if necessary. At the moment a visa for entering Slovenia is required only for some countries and even for the majority of these it is possible to obtain a visa directly at the border. To avoid any inconvenience at the border, we suggest you to consult your local travel agent for details of current entrance and customs regulations for entering Slovenia from your home country.
Currency. The national currency of the Republic of Slovenia is the Slovenian Tolar (SIT). All convertible currencies are accepted at exchange bureaus at the airport, the frontier, at major hotels and some other places close to the Symposum venue.
For your convenience here are some approximate exchange rates:
1 DEM = 91 SIT; 1 USD = 153,5 SIT; 1 DEM = approx. 0.6 USD
Climate and clothing. Kranjska gora/Hotel pik is located at the foot of the Julian Alps and near the northern source of the Sava river. It has a mild, healthy subalpine climate. The weather in September is mostly fine with average temperatures around 18 oC. Rainy periods of a few days are not unlikely, however. Therefore a light coat, sweater, walking boots and umbrella are recommended. Dress for all events will be informal.
Electricity. Mains supply is 220 V / 50 Hz, continental two pin system.
Health insurance. Slovenia has special reciprocal conventions concerning health insurance with many countries. It is recommended that participants check this possibility and make their own arrangements with respect to health, accident, and travel insurance. The Organising Committee cannot accept any responsibilty for debts incurred by individuals as a result of illness or injury.
